Why WordPress?

By tbalino

Welcome to my Online Journalism blog.  Join me as we explore that place where context, content and users intersect, like circles in a Venn Diagram.

Anyway, onto the main topic of this post. When looking through the various blog sites listed on our class web site, I gravited most towards Blogger and WordPress. Both seemed like easy-to-use blogging technologies that you didn’t have to download onto your computer. Additionally, I’ve used Blogger in the past, so I had familiarity on my side.

As you can see, I went with WordPress instead. The main reason was because I thought its templates, such as this default one, had a much cleaner design. The ones on Blogger, while not bad, can be a little gimmicky and overly colorful.

So far, using WordPress hasn’t been too scary. I’ll let you know if I run into anything truly horrifying. ;)
